Daytime Emmy Winners!

General Hospital swept the 2012 Daytime Emmys with the most nominations and the most wins.

Named best daytime drama, General Hospital also boasts best actor with the win for Anthony Geary who plays Luke Spencer. I love Tony Geary. I am also loving his latest storyline. Pairing him with Anna is a fun idea and complicating it with his feelings of not wanting to hurt Tracy compounded with Heather thinking they have something to rekindle really is keeping him on his toes.

Jonathan Jackson who left the soap this past year, won supporting actor for his portrayal of Lucky Spencer, a role he has played on and off since he was 11 years old. Although Lucky is missed, it seems that everyone is moving on and that is a good thing. Jonathan Jackson left GH out of complaints that he had TOO much air time- silly man, doesn't he realize that there are thousands of actors out of work???

Nancy Lee Grahn who plays Alexis Davis won best supporting actress. Although I like Nancy a lot, I do believe that there were other actresses whose storylines were more challenging and who were a bit more compelling. Laura Wright, as Carly, is one and Kelly (OMG her last name escapes me!) as Sam McCall Morgan are two right off the top of my head that had more drama to work with.

I was a bit surprised that Chad Newel who plays Michael did not win best supporting younger actor. His rape storyline was brilliantly portrayed and really showed his talents.

The daytime emmys basically ignored All My Children and One Life to Live which was kind of sad. These shows were cancelled in favor of two talk/self-improvement shows one of which has already been cancelled.

Starting in September, GH will be moved to 2 p.m. and an annoying former morning show host will have her own show. (Notice how I will NOT mention names because of my dislike for her) I also do know the names of the two shows that "replaced" my daytime shows but again, I will not give them any media by mentioning their names.

Many excellent GH actors were nominated for awards and that in itself is great. There is a lot of talent on this show (and was as several of the nominees have left)

I was disappointed in the win for Heather Tom who is on the Bold and the Beautiful. During the period after OLTL went off the air I tried (in vain) to get hooked on the CBS soaps. I found the Bold and the Beautiful to be one of the most awful shows I have ever seen. (NBC's Passions is the worst ever- sorry Mom) The way that show is written, filmed and acted gives soaps a bad name. Sorry if anyone disagrees but it really is bad. I struggled through the storyline of EVERYONE worried/concerned about Hope's virginity. I mean who cares???? Liam is a ball-less, predictable weakling and to think that strong Steffy would fight for him, well, it is just really bad.

Anyhow, back to GH...yes many fans see too much of OLTL's signature storylines- baby swaps, personality disorders and such and worry that GH is going to fail in ratings because of this copy-cat trend. I see it as a move away from mob-related storylines which is good. Time will tell.

In the meantime we can celebrate that in the eyes of the industry GH has been recognized for its' actors and excellence in story-telling. Maybe that will keep it going through its' 30 anniversary in 2013.

Catching Up

This GH fan is working outside the home and is struggling to be able to catch up on updating this GH spoiler blog. Although I dvr the daily episodes, watching them is another issue.

I am a fan- don't get me wrong BUT some of the storylines lately annoy me so much it is hard to watch and not fast forward through most of it.

This whole "reality" show storyline with Kristina and Trey is annoying. Okay, we get it. Kristina is humiliated by her peers and is angry with her parents. The idea that either Alexis or Sonny would put up with being a part of a reality show is outrageous and totally out of character.

The Maxi/Matt relationship has been doomed for a long time and although it is nice that we finally know the identity of Lisa's killer, having Maxi hold on and wait for Matt is stupid.

Lulu is a file clerk. Why she would be a part of a briefing with the PCPD is beyond me. I love Anna as the new commissioner BUT what does this mean for Mac?? It seems aside from trying to give him a romance with Alexis and that roll in the hay with Diane, Mac was only used as the commissioner. Will he fade into oblivion like Edward and Monica???

The writers are making use of their OLTL characters with weaving Todd and Starr into the newer storylines. It could be good but it could also be bad. Do we need a Michael/Starr romance? They have set it up for them to be star-crossed lovers but the idea that Michael would easily forgive Starr is out of character.

The formerly smart Carly Jax forgiving Johnny is going to prove to be a big let-down in the future as Johnny is haunted by what he has done. How long will it take for Carly (and everyone else) to put together the pieces and figure out what Johnny is responsible for.

Will Johnny be exiting Port CHarles??? I sure hope not. He is one of my favorites characters but he has become so dark and I cannot see how he can come back from that.

Kate's revelations about her rape and baby (I never do get how these women FORGET giving birth) will probably result in her son being found. Sonny is standing by her but I don't see this becoming a long-term romance.

Where is Steve???????

Heather is able to steal dead bodies, dispose of them, switch newborns and make threats all over town but where is STEVE!!!!!????????????!!!!!!!!

What she won't do for Luke and has done shows how sick she is. Now she has silenced Luke (for now) but where and when will it end???

Sam and Spinelli just might come up with the truth about Sam and Tea's babies now that they have teamed up to investigate Heather for Olivia. Olivia's street smarts might have helped save many in PC.

I love that Elizabeth is finally being rewarded with a new romance. I like her and Ewen together and the friendship she has with Jason. I miss Lucky but instead of Elizabeth going back to Jason, having her explore a new relationship is nice. Ewen is likeable with just enough mystery to keep him interesting.

The character of Todd Manning is totally outrageous but likeable as any OLTL fan will agree. Bringing him to PC and mixing his life with Sonny's was odd but with him purchasing Kate's magazine it should get interesting.

As I have said before although I am a huge Sonny fan, moving away from mob-themed stories will be good for ratings.

So this weekend I will be spending a lot of time catching up on the GH I missed during the week. I promise to not fast forward through the annoying intereactions between Felicia and Mac and report on ALL the happenings in Port Charles.

Let me know what you like or don't like.

Secrets

Ewen visits Kate and gets her to remember the event that caused Connie to become Kate. Connie gave birth to a baby during her teens and abandoned him. The baby was a result of a rape by Sonny's boss.

Sonny struggled to keep his cool with Kristina who was dead-set on punishing him and Alexis.

Sonny warned Trey to stay out of his relationship with Kristina but Trey seemed to have the upper hand.

Dante and Lulu fought when she told him about her business venture with Johnny.

Dante warned Johnny that he would be watching him.

Luke went to Lulu when he and Anna got too close.

Anna discussed her friendship with Luke with John.

John got the truth from Sonny about what really happened to his sister.

Sam left the hospital a bitter and angry woman.

Coming: What will happen when Sonny finds out about Kate's son?

Moving Forward

Michael runs into Starr and she apologizes for not trusting him. She shares with Michael the "truth" about who was responsible for the accident. Michael is shocked but tells Starr that he always knew his dad was innocent.

Johnny proposes to Lulu that they turn the Haunted Star into a club. Lulu surprises Johnny by agreeing to become his partner.

Johnny then summons Starr to the Haunted Star and tells her it is a great place for her to begin her singing career.

Matt confesses to murdering Lisa because he cannot live with denying it. He gets a plea deal to serve 5 years and is taken off to prison. Maxie is heartbroken and doesn't even notice that Mac and Felicia are growing closer.

Carly goes to see Jason and is shocked by the recent developments. She urges Jason to fight for Sam.

Elizabeth tries to comfort a very defiant Sam. Sam tells Elizabeth that it is Jason's fault that her baby died and she tells Elizabeth that she can have him.

Ewen is recovered enough to leave the hospital and he and ELizabeth share a passionate kiss. Ewen then goes to see Kate.

Kate is relieved that Ewen is well. Kate shares with Ewen her revelations of Connie's other crime. Ewen doesn't believe that Connie caused the accident and debates with Kate the sense of it all.

Tracy professes her love for Luke and boldly tells him that she wants him back. Luke doesn't jump at the chance but tells her that he wants to go slowly.

Olivia and Spinelli discover where Heather was the night of the storm and wonder what she was doing.

Steve tells Heather that she cannot be wandering around unaccompanied and tells her to wait in the hospital for him.

Heather has the real DNA test Sam had taken which shows that Jason was the baby's father NOT Franco.

Commentary: As I said before in a previous post- I despise the baby swap storyline!!! Sam and Jason are breaking up due to this and the swap affects so many.

Intuition

Sam copes with the loss of her baby still fighting the feeling that her baby is not dead.

As Tea prepares to leave the hospital with baby Victor, she runs into Sam.

Meanwhile Todd is confronted by Heather.

Olivia hires Spinelli to find out what Heather is up to out of fear that she has done something horrible.

Matt and Maxie adjust to married life.

Mac and Felicia appear to rekindle their past romance.

John shares with Anna what happened to him during the storm.

Alexis accuses Jason of not being there for Sam and suggests that her grandson would be alive if not for him.

Commentary: I have not been watching GH live as I am working full-time now but when I come home all I can do is fast-forward through most of it. I am DISGUSTED by this baby switch story. I expect it will take several months for the truth to be revealed and that is not a comforting thought. Sam and Jason's relationship has been destroyed by the whole Franco storyline and the baby's "death" has just twisted the knife in an already bad choice of storytelling. As a OLTL fan, Todd is the perfect character to have made such a wrong choice and pairing him up with psycho Heather is brilliant but predictable. How much havoc are they going to let Heather get away with before she is stopped again????

Monday, June 4, 2012

Jason finally goes after Sam only to find her missing.

John awakens on the side of the road and makes his way back to the hotel only to run into Jason. He tells him that Sam had the baby.

Meanwhile Sam passes out in the cabin where Todd has taken Tea's dead baby to. Todd finds Sam's baby and switches Tea's baby with Sam's.

Tea goes looking for Todd and finds him holding Sam's baby.

Todd gives the baby to Tea. Heather comes just as Todd was going to tell Tea the truth.

Johnny and Carly have a talk.

Todd tells Heather the truth.

Heather convinces Todd to keep the secret and not tell Tea that the baby isn't hers. Heather tells Todd that Sam didn't want her baby.

Coming: Will Todd tell Tea the truth???

Baby Switch

I'm sure that many GH fans are disturbed by Friday's episode where Sam and Tea both gave birth to sons. We all can see what is coming and NONE of us like it.

Really GH writers? Another baby switch? More heartache for poor Sam? Hasn't she been through enough????

Todd promised Tea that her baby would be okay. OLTL fans KNOW how far Todd will go. Switching Tea's dead baby with Sam's is so predictable even though it is going to be quite a stretch for how Todd will pull it off.

Jason will arrive to finally (!) reunite with Sam only to console her loss. Enough already!!!

I get that it is a daytime drama and happy endings aren't in the script but fans deserve to see Sam have a tiny fraction of happiness already.

If you are not a OLTL fan, do you really care about Tea or Todd? It was a nice twist to bring Tea aboard (guess they needed another pregnant woman for the baby switch) but seriously, fans (like me) of both shows know that both Tea and Sam have been tortured emotionally and both should have their babies.

Yes, we know that Tea's husband Victor really is alive but still- enough!!!!

While I am on a role with storyline turns, Johnny's transformation has left this character no where to go except Pentenville. Don't you agree? He's killed Anthony (we knew someone would sooner or later) and he is responsible for the deaths of Hope and Cole (maybe that is why he tried to help Starr) and his relationship with Carly COULD have been interesting BUT how do you keep him on the show when he has done all these horrible things???

GH brought back Felicia (who cares??) and although Mac deserves a real love interest does anyone really care about Felicia???

Matt is going to be allowed to get away with the murder of Lisa which seems really ridiculous. Faux Maxie is just plain annoying and how her family and Matt's have just gone along with their marriage is stupid.

It would be fun to see a love triangle explored between Luke/Tracy and Anna. Luke is definitely not used enough. It is nice that the Luke/Lulu bond is strengthening again. I still miss Lucky though and Ethan also.

The new recast of Kristina has taken the character to a place that is comical but annoying.

On one hand it is nice that there is so much going on in PC but it also seems like storylines are promised but not followed through. I mean why all the hype about Delores husband and it went NO WHERE???

Heather Webber is out of control- everyone knows what a threat she is but WHERE IN THE HELL IS HER PRECIOUS STEVEN LARS WHOSE JOB IT IS TO KEEP HER IN CONTROL?????

The DID storyline is typical OLTL (totally overdone on that soap) and Kate just needs to get locked away in the looney bin and Sonny needs to move on. Although at times Kate/Connie put on a great performance at other times it just fell short.

Wouldn't it be nice if GH just got back to being the GH before the mob came to town? Let's see more catfights, affairs and drama and lose some of the gun violence. It really is getting old.

Oh and while I am at it (being wishful) let's have a happy ending here and there. We love Sam but enough of Sam the victim.

Delivery Time

I must say that it has taken me a few days to come to grips with what went down on Friday's episode. As a OLTL fan I was disappointed to know that there wouldn't be an ending to Tea's pregnancy. With the character moving to Port Charles there was hope in completing that story. Wish they would have left it alone.

Tea (ridiculously) gave birth in a bus stop with only Todd to help her. As she screamed her way through the difficult delivery, Todd wise-cracked trying to keep the mood light. The baby was born, no cries of the newborn were heard and Tea urged him to take her newborn son to the hospital, leaving her behind.

NO WAIT!

Why wouldn't Tea go along? She despises Todd. Are we really supposed to believe that she would allow him to try to save her son's life especially after Tea believes he killed her husband????

Of course it is still storming and here is Todd running around in the rain, clutching a teeny baby wrapped in a towel. He stumbles upon the shed where Anthony's body is propped in a wheelbarrel. He notices the body and STILL goes into the shed where he encounters crazy Heather Webber.

Reluctantly he hands the baby over to Heather who appears to resuscitate the baby but turns and looks at Todd with a look that says the baby is dead.

NOOOOO!!!!!!

Meanwhile Sam has her own difficult delivery with John McBain at her side. Sam's baby boy is born and John goes to bring his car around front to get Sam and the baby to the hospital. Sam notices that her new son is having difficulty breathing.

John is ambushed on his way to the car by Jason's goons who drive him away and beat him.

Meanwhile Sam goes for help, leaving the baby in John's room and she passes out.

Carly tells Jason that he needs to go to Sam and forgive her so that they can move on. With half the town telling Jason that he can love the baby as his own and people (like Carly) who don't even LIKE Sam telling him that they should be together, WHY IS IT TAKING JASON SO LONG TO DO THE RIGHT THING??????

Luke spills the truth about his and Tracy's role in Anthony's disappearance to Lulu who insists that they need to tell Dante the truth.

Dante is smart and with Johnny pushing him to arrest Luke and Tracy, Dante is going to pick up on how suspicious it is that Johnny is pointing them towards Luke and Tracy as killers.

Next week on GH: Maxie and Matt try to go on with their lives as a married couple as Spinelli nurses a broken heart.

Felicia and Mac grow closer.

The aftermath of the birth of two babies hits a lot of residents. Will there be happy endings or more drama??

Will Heather succeed in saving Luke by burying Anthony or will Todd's arrival throw off her plans?

WHERE is Steve who is supposed to be watching his crazy mother?????

So what do you think about the double delivery and double dilemma for these babies???

Fate

A storm hits Port Charles and knocks out a cell tower and power lines.

Sam goes into labor in John McBain's room with only him to help her.

Tea gets stuck in a car on a closed road with Todd during the storm and finds herself ready to give birth also.

Sonny advises Jason that it doesn't matter who the baby's father is that he can be the baby's father. He tells Jason that he needs to be with Sam.

Jason and Sonny discuss John McBain and feel that he has caused them enough trouble.

Heather decides that she is going to help Luke the same way she helped Steve. She stole Anthony'
s body and plans on burying him herself.

Luke and Tracy get arrested and Tracy helps to make them look like they have something to hide.

Lulu doesn't believe that Luke killed Anthony but knows the two are hiding something.

Coming: Will Sam's baby be okay?
